Firsr, Rural Economist James Shortall visits the Flemings near Taupo to see how they cope with highly porous whilst protecting a pristine river. And secondly, James visits Winton in Southland to check out a 'Worm Farm' treatment system.

 

 

 

ASB Rural Innovation Week - Episode 4 - Diversification

In the final episode of ASB Rural Innovation Week, James Shortall goes to Golden Bay at the top of the South Island, to talk to the Harwoods and see how they use strategic thinking to best utilise their available resources with a range of nine income streams -- in particular, harnessing water resources for irrigation and hydro power generation.
