Kiwi farming and technology company Ag-Hub has swept the board at the 2011 TUANZ Innovation Awards.

Ag-Hub not only won the rural category for which it was nominated, but also took out the overall supreme award, drawing praise from across the communications sector.

The Ag-Hub web portal allows farmers to monitor specific conditions of both stock and equipment in real time, making management decisions much easier.

Ag-Hub chairman Colin McFadzean says it’s recognition for the years of hard work that have gone in to making the farm management system a success.

"I think the thing that put us in good standing was we developed all the on farm hardware – the network, the gateway and the portal, all together.

“We didn’t just set our stall on a single product, we’ve actually developed a solution.”

Colin McFadzean says hopefully the positive press will encourage more farmers to get on board with the system.

“Obviously it will lift our exposure, and hopefully it will push us out there a bit more.

“As a smaller business like ours, getting that exposure is always very difficult, so this will help.”
