Opposing NAIT Like 'Flogging A Dead Dog'

NAIT COW 2untitledTaupiri bull breeder Steven Stark says he still has very little idea about how NAIT is actuallym going to work, and who has to pay what, where and when.

The government is hearing submissions this week on its National Animal Identification and Tracing Bill, or NAIT.

Parliament’s Primary Production Committee will be hearing submissions on the livestock tracking system which will start operating on November 1.

However, farmers say they are still in the dark about how NAIT is actually going to work on a day-to-day basis on the farm.

Steven Stark says continuing to oppose NAIT would be 'like flogging a dead dog'.

He says farmers’ opinions and thoughts on NAIT haven’t been listened to so far by the government, and says he doesn’t expect any major changes to emerge from the submission process.
