New Zealanders’ wallets may well be about to take yet another dairy-related hit.
One of the country’s main food manufacturers has announced that significant price rises are on the way for its retailers.
Australian food manufacturer Goodman Fielder – which produces well-known brands such as Tararua, Meadowfresh, Cheesedale and Puhoi Valley – has told its retailers that their prices will be going up next week.
There will be price increases across the board, with the price of cheese expected to increase by 12 percent, while butter will rise by more than 10 percent
A Goodman Fielder spokesperson told media that the price increases to retailers were the downstream effect of Fonterra hiking its wholesale milk price to the company from $7.30 per kilo of milksolids to $7.90.
