Psa-V Now In 900 Kiwifruit Orchards

Kiwifruit Vine Health, the organisation set up to manage the Psa crisis has confirmed 20 new Psa-V positive results this week, bringing the total number of  orchards with infected vines to 909.

Of those 759 are in the main kiwifruit growing region of Te Puke, with others in Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, Katikati, Waihi and, even more worrying, three in Franklin, south of Auckland.

KVH says 27 per cent, nearly 5000 hectares, of New Zealand’s kiwifruit orchards are now affected.

KVH is organising a field day in Te Puyke next week to discuss the redevelopment of plants in a Psa-V environment.
