Sheep and beef farmers are being urged to have their say on the strategy aimed at revitalising the red meat sector.
Professional services firm Deloitte is working with industry groups, collecting production and market information to develop the plan.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand chairman Mike Petersen says farmers who aren’t personally consulted in the process can contribute online.
“We haven’t got a target in mind, but there’s been so much interest in the meat sector strategy, a lot of farmers are looking to have their say.
"We encourage any farmers who want to give us their input to head onto the website, it only takes half an hour, and there will be a range of simple questionnaires there.
"This only went online [on Tuesday], but there’s already over a hundred responses, I’m encouraging people to get on their and have their say, this is an incredibly important exercise.”
Mr Petersen says an online submission takes around half an hour to complete, and is open to farmers until October 4th.
