In other news, Federated Farmers Tararua executive and Fonterra have met to evaluate the damage from flooding earlier this week.
Up to 350mm of rain fell in parts of the Tararua ranges in a 12 hour period from Sunday night, causing major flooding in the Woodville and Pahiatua areas.
Feds Tararua Field Officer Andrea Beagely says some areas have been hit much harder than others, and some farms still haven’t been assessed.
“Although I contacted one of the worst hit roads yesterday, Scarborough Road, there was actually no-one crying out for immediate assistance, they all seemed to be coping.
"I think it will be a 'time will tell' thing, maybe next week we will get some calls from people saying ‘actually we do need a bit of a hand’, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Ms Beagley says it will be next week before all the details on flood damage are known.
