Donations to relief funds set up to help rebuild in Canterbury are rolling in.
Fonterra has given $1 million. And Natural Dairy, the Hong Kong company seeking to buy the Crafar farms, has pledged $200,000.
Four Fonterra tankers were delivering water to the community. Fonterra is also working with the civil defence teams to provide food and milk for the public.
20 percent of dairy farms in the area are still without power. Fonterra is continuing to collect all milk from local farmers.
Fonterra’s manufacturing sites at Clandeboyne, Takaka, Brightwater and Kaikoura were operating and processing milk. There has been minor damage at the Plains manufacturing site but the clean-up is underway and the plant is operating.
