Allan Crafar has won a temporary reprieve from the legal challenge to evict he and his family from their Reporoa farmhouse.
KordaMentha, the receivers for his 16 central North Island farms, want him out of the property, but Mr Crafar refuses to leave, and recently produced a tenancy agreement he says proves he doesn’t have to.
The court has allowed Mr Crafar to stay in the house while it examines the printer that produced the documents to check their authenticity.
But, Mr Crafar says they’ll have a tough job finding it.
“Why would he allow them another bloody month when the documents have been examined, there was nothing found wrong with them, and now they wanna examine the printer - I said ‘well, bring a shovel’ cos it’ll be two metres down in a rubbish dump somewhere.
He says the receivers are becoming desperate in their bid to kick him out.
"I can’t believe the judge went for that. He should have said ‘look, this is rubbish, this is grasping at straws, we will strike out this application for eviction’.
"He’s obviously under instructions from higher powers to make sure we’re gone.”
The case has been adjourned until September 20.
