Ferguson Claims Shearing Crown

Waipawa shearer Cam Ferguson is on top of the shearing world, taking line honours in the machine section at the World Shearing and Wool handling Championships in Wales.

Ferguson denied compatriot David Fagan a sixth individual world crown, to claim one of three titles won by the New Zealand team.

Fagan’s second place finish ensured the pair also won the teams title, as did wool handlers Sheree Alabaster and Keryn Herbert, although Alabaster narrowly missed out on the individual crown.

Blade shearers Brian Thomson and Allen Gemmell were third in their event, with Thomson finishing in the same place in the individual final.
