Crafar To Continue Case Against Receivers

Allan Crafar's court bid to block the sale of his farms may have failed, but the beleaguered farmer says he’ll continue to seek damages from receiver KordaMentha for mismanagement of his properties.

Mr Crafar says receivers have "substantially mismanaged" the farms and the sale process and they were called in without any prior warning.

An injunction to block the sale of the farms failed in the Auckland High Court on Friday on financial grounds.

Justice Rhys Harrison gave Crafar family lawyer Dan Parker until August 6 to file an amended claim.

Claims made by the Crafars against the receivers include turning away potential buyers who were friendly toward the family, poor stock management and wasteful spending.

Receivers KordaMentha say they will vigorously defend any claims.

The Crafars say they are willing to "redeem or purchase" the farms from the receivers for $216 million .
