Crafar Farm Receivers Off To Court

The receivers for the Crafar dairy empire get their day in court next month.

KordaMentha says a first call-over date had been set down for July 26 in Rotorua.

Receivers are trying to get a court order to remove Allan Crafar from the property where he’s lived for decades,  after he rejected an offer for six months'  free rent if he left the farm in April.

The Crafar empire went into liquidation owing more than $200 million to PGG Wrightson and banks last year.

But embattled farmer Allan Crafar says he isn’t going anywhere.

Responding to Alan Crafar. I truely feel sorry for this man and his family. He has worked hard for all these years and what does he get - nothing. He may have been able to trade out of it with the dairy payout forecasted to be. I wonder if the banks knew all this and are having him. He is a tradtional kiwi hard working farmer. He doesn't go on holidays and drive fancy cars or have a million dollar mansion. Bet the people that put him in this predicament do. He was unfortuniate to listen to the men in suits and tyes. I truely feel for the family. Farming is not a easy lifestyle and having farm workers working for you, is differently no easy task. I hope Alan and the family can stay. Good on him for trying.
