The Animal Health Board has successfully prosecuted a Waiuku famer for deliberately selling cattle from a herd he knew was infected with TB.
Geoffrey William Muir pleaded guilty to charges of moving and selling cattle, breaching a restricted place notice imposed by the AHB in June 2008.
Animal Health Board CEO William McCook says the prosecution shows although most farmers are vigilant regarding checking, there are still some worrying cases out there.
The AHB says the prosecution should send a clear message to the farming community that the rules will be vigorously enforced.
