The receivers of Rural Portfolio Investments and Rural Portfolio Capital say the sale of assets has returned $29.1 million - just under half the amount investors are owed.

McGrathNicol has sold Rural Portfolio's shares in New Zealand Farming Systems Uruguay for $4.1 million and a stake in PGG Wrightson for over $24 million.

But investors are unlikely to see all that money, as the receivership costs have not yet been deducted.
