Trade Minister Tim Groser expects New Zealand’s dairy industry to take another big leap forward with its latest move into the Middle East.
Fonterra has just announced its move from minority investor to full ownership of Saudi New Zealand Milk Products, a dairy plant in Damman, Saudi Arabia that makes cheese products from New Zealand milk powder.
The Middle East is one of Fonterra’s fastest growing markets, accounting for 20% of its Brands and Ingredients division.
Dr. Groser says after the co-op’s latest investment, the only way is up.
