Wool Equities Ponders Capital Raising

Wool investment company Wool Equities is considering a capital raising plan as it contemplates expanding its business to a fully integrated model.

The company has been biding its time while planning a business expansion to include wool growing, production and export.

It recently launched a high-end woollen rug for the US market, and chairman Clifford Heath says there are further plans to expand.

"The issue now is the amount of funds required to capitalise so that we can actually realise the opportunities that we’ve identified.

"That's the principal reason for the fund raising and we need around $3m minimum to lift the whole job to the next level."

Mr Heath says there are a number of opportunities overseas.

"We’ve looked around the world, we've got clear opportunities, obviously in the US, the UK, we’ve got relationships in Portugal, Turkey and Nepal and we see significant opportunities in Russia."

The capital raising is likely to take place in April or May next year.
