PGG Wrightson Finance is stepping in to help hard-up farmers who want to subscribe to the Wool Partners Co-operative (WPC).
The decision comes after a number of farmers voiced a desire sign up, but lacked the funds to do so.
PGW Finance chief executive Mark Darrow says lending to farmers who want to join WPC but can’t was an obvious move.
“It’s what we do. We’re a finance company, we lend to farmers for farming purposes. It’s our bread and butter business.
"We’ve had a number of requests for assistance with funding in the WPC proposal, we also do this with dairy and a number of other industries.”
Mark Darrow says it’s up to WPC to win the 50 per cent support among strong wool farmers it needs to go ahead.
