Federated Farmers has confirmed it will appeal parts of the Horizons Regional Council’s One Plan.
The plan was finalised three months ago and won wide-ranging approval from farming groups that had opposed the original document.
But the Feds want to discuss the parts of the final plan that place restrictions on stock around waterways.
“We are appealing it, and part of that appeal is in conjunction with Horizons [Regional Council] because there’s things they’re not happy with either, so it’s a chance for us to collaborate.
"When you put an appeal in, it’s so you can enter mediation, it’s not a negative thing, it’s positive.
"If you don’t appeal, you’re not at the table to work out some common ground between the council and various stakeholders.”
