Farmers Want More Wool Meetings

Wool Partners Co-operative has extended its roadshow programme by a week as it looks to win as much farmer support as possible.

The co-operative is proposing a new farmer-owned enterprise, and has set a bottom line investment of $65m, or half the national wool clip.

Co-op Chairman Jeff Grant says the extra meetings have come at farmers’ request.

“It’s really good, the level of debate is probably as high as it has been in the wool industry for some time.

"Farmers are interested about the future of the co-op and what it will do – it’s pleasing to see.”

Mr Grant says one area of discussion has been the fees farmers would be charged in selling their wool on the WPC platform.

The meetings will run until the end of next week.
