Farmers Needed For Survey

Canterbury farmers affected by last month’s earthquake are being asked to take part in a survey to measure its effect on farmland.

All rural residents are being encouraged to visit the Rural Recovery Group’s pages on the Selwyn District Council website to describe what the quake felt like and how much damage it did to buildings and farm equipment.

Group co-ordinator Allan Baird says the survey will give a much clearer picture of the overall impact of the quake in rural areas.

“They’ve put a lot of thought into this survey, it’s not difficult to do, and it’s all online.

"It’s going to give them quite a bit of information to analyse, and then report back to those rural recovery groups and give us a better picture.

"It might pick up a few things we haven’t thought about."

Mr Baird says there is still concern about structural damage to houses.

If you were affected by the earthquake you can complete the survey by visiting www.selwyn.govt.nz and following the links to the Rural Recovery Group.
