Hubbard investors are being warned they’re being targeted by a bogus telephone survey.
One investor says she became concerned because the caller seemed to know how much her family had invested and wanted to know why she had given her money to Allan Hubbard.
Grant Thornton, the statutory managers of Hubbard's Aorangi Investments and Hubbard Management Funds, confirms investors were being contacted by someone saying they were calling on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development to undertake the survey using contact details supplied by Grant Thornton.
But neither the Ministry nor Grant Thornton have any knowledge of the unauthorized survey.
Meantime, “Stand by Hubbard Supporters” group spokesperson Paul Carruthers said he had sent out a warning to around 200 investors telling them not to answer the questions if they did not want to.
“We were horrified – he even knew how much money they had invested,” said Mr. Carruthers.
“Someone had got hold of that information, clearly. The only people that should have access to it are the companies office, the securities commission and the statutory managers – there should not be anyone else that is privy to that information,” he said.
